About Us

The Menzies Belford Hotel has recently undergone a multi-million pound refurbishment programme to reposition it as one of Edinburgh’s leading luxury four - star hotels.

The Menzies Group of hotels have also had Access Audits performed and have plans in place to make further adaptations to ensure their compliance with the Disability Discrimination Act 1995.

Situated on the banks of the Water of Leith in a quiet secluded area, yet close to the cosmopolitan city centre, the hotel offers the best of both worlds.

Accommodation

The hotel has 146 en-suite bedrooms of which four are accessible and situated on the fourth and fifth floors.

The four accessible rooms with en-suite bathroom facilities all have baths with showers rather than roll in showers. The height of the bath is 53cm and does not have a grab rail along the back of the bath itself. There is a handrail on the wall higher up that could be used by ambulant disabled guests. Beds have an under bed clearance of 5cm and a height of 64cm. There are six rooms in total that have vibrating pillows and each room has a vibrating fire alert.

The toilet has a height of 41cm and has a transfer bar situated next to it. Elsewhere in the bathroom, the sink has a height of 80.5cm and has a clearance under the worktop area of 69cm.

All rooms can be configured to be either double or twin.
Although doubles do tend to be more spacious, twins are still reasonably manoeuvrable.

Dining

The restaurant is accessible by level access from the outside car park at the rear of the hotel or from within the hotel itself. Most areas of the restaurant are accessible and the tables have a leg clearance height of 63cm. Some have a view of the Water of Leith.

Bar

Whether you are staying on business or leisure the hotel offers a range of facilities including ten function rooms, a new sophisticated Brasserie restaurant and the Granary Pub all of which are accessible.

Car Parking

Car parking is available under the rear of the hotel with access to the lifts through a wide door from the car park into a lobby area. Although there are no designated disabled parking spaces, guest may reserve a space at the time of booking. The car park has a smooth surface.

There is a drop off point at the front door of the hotel, which is accessible to the spacious reception area and lift carriages.
